Visited for approx. 1 1/2 hour. Found the facility to be bright and clean, all of our questions were answered openly, the residents appeared to be in good mental and physical health, the menu was appealing, the individual units are nice sized. Our only concern is the size of the facility, at over 8 acres, we were concerned that Mom, who is becoming more tired after excercise, may have too much of a distance to walk to dining and that the distance may keep her confined to her apartment.

Even though director realized quite early that the likelihood of me placing my mother there was slim to nil he spent a lot of time with me talking about the Regency, how my mom's needs and personality would be met there as if she could become a resident as well as the Brookdale (nat'l corp) model for doing business. That in itself was highly enlightening as Brookdale manages with a strong top-down philosophy. I also learned the "Clare Bridge" is a brand name for its memory care services, not necessarily a facility name, thus CB of Ithaca has a companion property called Sterling House which provides the independent and assisted living services. Learning that what I saw in San Jose would be almost identical to what is done in Ithaca made the tour that much more useful. I was impressed with their program and eager to see others so that I can compare as I learn.

Fabulous. At the Crotonville exit. Very warm - zen feeling. There will be activity outside of the window. Lots of natural light. Opens this week so lots of working out the kinks of a new system is my guess. But - i really liked it. DownSide - no nursing care. If mom needs nursing care we have to go to a nursing home. So a change. But a fantastic program for activities. And they will work with mom to set a personalized plan for her.
