Darlington Communities

The smell of urine almost knocked me over as soon as I walked through the door. And it only got worse from there... What a sad, dark, and dismal place for any human to live in. The rooms are tiny and there is no place to get any sun or joy. This place should be closed down. It's very prison-like. The "inmates" are limited to one small area with no creative activities. The staff was ok - but I did not spend enough time to know about the care. All I know is that if they work at DML, then they are compliant in the miserable conditions I witnessed. Why hasn't the state of RI stepped in?

The admin of the facility is horrendous. All they care about is money. Calls and emails are not returned and appointments are not honored. The facility is unclean and has had bedbugs in the past. The facility is also unsafe for those woth mobility issues. There are stairs into/out of the building, to resident rooms and in common areas such as the dining room. There are no ramps to make areas handicap accessible and there is not enough staff to assist residents with stairs and ensure their safety. All this facility and its administrator care about is money.

They were gung-ho courting me until we made out payments, it took multiple days to get into contact with someone. The communication was really lacking, and they did not care for your loved one like you would except.

I was not happy with our experience at Darlington. The first day out of quarantine there they changed some of her medications without me knowing and she fell and had to go to the hospital. She stayed at the hospital a couple of day and then went back to the facility. After she got back, she fell again. They kept trying to push memory care on us and I do not think she needed that. I was not pleased with the care that she received here. The management here was very unresponsive.
