Beautiful facility- highly recommend

It's a beautiful facility, overall well kept up. Now and then some hiccups (eg elevator breakdown or problem with a/c). Food is generally very good, with some delays in service in the dining room. Servers are very friendly and get to know residents and their patterns (eg water with no ice). Loads of activities and outings. Unfortunately my mom doesn't take advantage of them, but they have a great director of activities! Medical/care staff are exceptional with few exceptions. As is the admin staff. Generally very timely in responding when I've contacted with concerns or needed assistance. It's a lot of money, but not much different than the other assisted living communities I visited.

For those in need, this is a place worth exploring

Facility is good, especially for single person, apartments are different sizes, 3/4 bath, in room washer/dryer, bi weekly room n bed cleaning/change sheets, good sized walk in closet, full kitchen, full fridge for independent living. Parking garage space n storage space under ground for a cost, some limited parking in parking lots. Staff is my opinion the very best, most accommodating, and willing to go the extra step for residents.

Care that provided healing!

I'd say for the family, this was a 5+! [name removed] went into skilled nursing when he got there in August, at that point, unable to get out of bed to go to the bathroom, unable to sit up by himself even. The staff was wonderful, they were very attentive, he felt quite cared for and did not put up his usual objection for being in Care. He got into physical therapy and to the point of being able to get in his wheelchair by himself and get down to the restaurant area to eat, I had a few meals with him there and it was delightful! He continued with physical therapy and occupational therapy, to the point where he graduated from skilled nursing into assisted living, which is where he is now. He's able to get in and out of a car, so now he can go places which was his real goal in life, to be able to eat out with his family. He's continuing with the occupational therapy, and improves every week. We are very pleased, everyone has been so nice, they've been so accommodating and he really does like everyone that attends to him. We were even able to go on vacation in Arizona to his cousin's hundredth birthday party! We had a delightful time and he plans to travel back to see his youngest daughter later on in the year.

Highly recommend - they foster welcoming community

I think these are all 5's - except perhaps food. We are trying to get the food dialed in for vegetarian options (they're working with us and have a fair selection- but my in-laws are from India and it's a very Americanized experience) I think my parents would love the food. The friendliness is why I selected the place and it's off the charts good. The activities are very well suited to the community they serve and I really like that they have the Bookmobile coming. They really know how to create community there. I see residents sitting and talking with other residents in their dining hall and other spaces. This doesn't happen by accident - they're working to foster community there

It's a very friendly and welcoming community with LOTS of activities planned each day to a variety of interests. These activities give residents opportunities to interact with other residents and expand their horizons or deepen existing interests. Based on my limited experience, their dining options and facilities are first rate. I would absolutely recommend the Carnegie to others

Previously excellent, increasingly superb

My wife and I have lived in Balfour at Riverfront Park (BRP) for 2 1/2 years. It was excellent when we arrived. In the past year, it's advanced to superb, with more gains scheduled. BRP's website is correct in saying, "Here, every detail is taken care of — from housekeeping and landscaping to transportation — allowing you to focus on what truly matters: living fully and joyfully. ... truly like a five-star resort for seniors." A few examples: 1) Dining -- Every resident I know is raving about upgrades, with a more expansive menu with increased choice, especially in ethnic and international offerings. 2) Billing -- A mundane area, but BRP's notifications allow you to always know exactly where you stand monetarily. Best if all: You pay one flat monthly fee for almost everything. 3) Staffing -- We have a new and excellent executive director to lead a staff that's increasingly professional and personable. BOTTOM LINE: Independent living is full, with a wait list, and the wait is worth it.

Review for Woodland Terrace

The independent living experience was very good. Lots of activities, well kept, attentive staff. The assisted living experience was not great. They weren't able to successfully meet my mother's needs. Their proposed solution to bridge the gap between what they could deliver and the care she needed was to make us pay for a sitter - which is extremely expensive. We ended up moving her to a group home setting which has been much better. I wish I knew of this option sooner. It would have saved us a lot of grief.

We are fairly new residents

We have only been here for four months, so have not participated in many activities. However, so far we are very glad we chose Balfour after looking into several other facilities.

I expected 18 months ago when I arrived at Balfour to compose a list of recommendations to improper administrations resident relationships to date that sheet is still attached to a clipboard and nothing is written on it. This place is great well run even the food exceptional and surprise, surprise I sing the praise daily anyone who will listen.

Review for Balfour Cherrywood Village

Balfour Cherrywood is amazing. I thought I was taking care of [removed name] at home but I had no clue how much better her care was at Balfour. She was truly loved there and she loved being there after a very short time. There are no words to properly describe how Blessed I felt for finding that wonderful loving place.

Highly recommend. Great heath care, food, cleanliness, and communication

Prior to my dad’s passing, he always spoke so highly of Balfour. He would often say, “I am grateful for Balfour. They take good care of me. They always say please and thank you and call me by my first name.” In his final days, he was moved to tears as he told the staff, “Thank you for taking care of me. I love you, and I’m going to miss you all.” The staff cried with him, showing how deeply they cared. They didn’t want to leave him crying alone in his bed, even though they had rounds to do. Instead, they brought him into the hall, where they all momentarily held hands together. That moment showed the true compassion and humanity of the care team. Beyond the incredible staff, the food was genuinely good, and the cleaning staff went above and beyond. They cleaned areas of the hall and room that I would never have expected anyone to pay attention to, ensuring everything was spotless and comfortable. The care, kindness, and respect shown at Balfour are unmatched. I will always be grateful.

Meetings with sales and assistant executive director were friendly, honest and straightforward as far as the cost ect. Apartments and studios are large enough with lots of windows and sunlight. Staff is friendly and knows the residents by name pretty quickly. Lots going on every day and the atrium is usually full of groups sitting around taking. I visited a lot of places during my search, and this was by far the best. My father has thrived here.

Awesome!

I was greeted at the door. Every staff person I walked by made eye contact and said Hello. I was told that PT had been there to visit Dad and what they said about his strength. Facility is very clean does not smell. Care givers are very knowledgeable about each persons needs.
