Brookdale

We moved my mother-in-law here last week. So far, she is really happy. She is involved and active. The staff is working hard to make her feel welcome and to keep her occupied. Gone are the please to "go home" or trying to leave the facility every five minutes. She seems happy, and that makes us happy. The rooms are shared, but I think that is good for my MIL. She was very lonely at night. I think she is comforted having someone else in the room. The facility is clean and neat. It is bright with a lovely outdoor area in the middle. The only thing that I think they could change is the presentation of the meals. The food smells good, and the residents told me it's good. However, it looks like cafeteria food ("ice cream scoop" mashed potatoes, cubes of meat, etc.) It would be nice to have it look more like home. The staff has been friendly, supportive, and helpful. My MIL has already made friends and enjoys "helping" the staff.

We pay a little bit more but its' a smaller place so I think it's worth it, at least for my mom. They have three different sized one bedrooms and she has the mid-sized one. The care is great. They've actually helped a lot. When we first got her there she needed full assisted living and now she doesn't need any. They really helped to get her independent. She loves bingo, watercolor classes and the exercise classes. She's never in her apartment I've been really happy with them. My mom was on the waiting list and had some falling issues and they took her into the studio unit and then helped us to get her healthy. She raves about the food there. She says it's like being on a cruise ship. Everybody is very nice. It's been an amazing experience for us. My mom has thrived.

Nice facility and size. Great staff familiarity with residents. Have ambassadors for new residents. $90/mo to smoke.

This all happened so suddenly; my Mom died unexpectedly, my Dad had to move out of his apartment and in with me. His dementia was much further along than I had known. We couldn't leave him alone and soon he was becoming depressed and threatening bad actions. Emeritus was willing to work with us very quickly to make room for him so that he would be in a safe place, and even after he had a very rebellious first attempt at living here they stood by us and reached out to him and he is now very, very comfortable and actually loves where he's living. The staff is tremendous; I don't know how they do it. The facility is above average and I have a warm feeling every time I visit. I don't know how to thank them enough.

My 91 year old uncle needed a place to call home. A place where his life would be meaningful. At Horizon Bay he's alive, thriving, and not just passing time. I live out of state, and everyone at Horizon Bay keeps me informed. Everything, everyone does there, for him or for me is with heart and passion. My uncle is the happiest he's been in years. And whether he has 1 year or ten years, he's earned this time to be filled with the best of health, happiness, peace, and people who truly care for him. I'm so thankful. And now I have peace knowing he's not just alive, he's living, and loving it at........91 years young.

We were having a tough time finding a place for our mother who has dementia with some behavioral issues. No one would take her. I then called "A place for mom" and they suggested Clare Bridge. The people at Clare Bridge worked with us and were so nice. they moved my mom in there within 2 weeks and it has been a lifesaver. The staff is so wonderful and friendly and the place takes very good care of mom. they keep us very informed and mom is much happier there. she is past having the behavioral issues now and Clare Bridge is working with us and hospice to provide excellent care for mom. I recommend them highly.

I am happy with West Side Manor, Emeritus on Long Branch Road, Liverpool, NY. I just feel there should be more staff in dining room and maintenance. They seem to be overworked.

From the first day I visited Sterling House, I knew this was the place for my mom. Everyone was so friendly and willing to answer any and all questions. Lee Gillis, the Sales Manager, was more than accommodating in working with us and my schedule. The grounds are kept very nice and the landscape changes with the seasons. The dining room is very homey and my mother loved it as soon as she walked in. She's been there only a few weeks, but is very happy and beginning to join in some of the activities.

Sterling House is a fairly new assisted living center and is well maintained, pretty and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Mom only lived there for one week.. So far, we're very pleased

Visited on Saturday Oct 19th with Kelly. My sisters and I thought Kelly was very compassionate and knowledgeable about our mother's health condition. The practices of the community will help our mother thrive, and think this will be a good fit for our mother. So much so, that we placed Mom on a waiting list.

Liked that it was all one level. Staff and residents friendly. Medication monitoring kind of high.

My mom is at STonebridge and I am pleased with the care she recieves. The staff are amazing and kind. The building is warm and friendly. My mom is HAPPY and I am at peace when I leave. Thank you Stonebridge!

If I could afford a place like this as I age I would go here. They're very good to my aunt, when she went in there, the place we took her out of was giving her drugs so she couldn't get out of her wheelchair without falling; they took her off of all of those, now she's mobile, she doesn't have to be in a wheelchair and she's much happier. Although Clare Bridge was a little more expensive than some of the other, it appeared to be a better arrangement with the pods. The rooms are off of the pods and it's a really good situation, there's someone within each pod day and night so if someone gets out of bed or needs something they're there. Alzheimer's is all they do, they're very familiar with it and their staff is very good and kind, it's well worth the cost.

My parents liked the place, it ended up that the money was more than they could handle and the people we had talked to said the VA would be able to help and they wouldn't. My father is the one that has dementia and he felt that he was trapped at Legacy. They were happy with it though, they were happy with everything, the staff, they had several doctors that came in to see them, the transportation. The only thing is they didn't take everything that was offered to them, they caould have taken them to the grocery store and different things but they just relied on my sister in law and brother.

So far everything's been great, everybody there is great, everybody's friendly, I've had no problems with them at all. My mom LOVES it, she didn't realize how much she hated living with me until she moved there. She's got other people her age and she loves the food, she loves her room and there's nothing she doesn't like. Everything worked out for the best and she's as happy as a lark. We couldn't be happier either, I looked at other places but I just felt like I was being led here.

The meals are pretty good. The housekeeping is good. The laundry...there are a few issues but overall everything is good. Sometimes they forget to do her laundry or they take it and don't bring it back. Sometimes they bring back other things that are not hers. The activities seem to be very good. They have games, they do exercising, movies, they go out to the grocery store once a week and the library once a week. They go out to lunch, at least one Friday a month they do a casino trip or something like that. This month they're going up to apple country. There are lots of activities. My mom has gotten really good care and I think they are doing a really good job except for the laundry. It seems to be a very nice place for my mom to live. It's really light inside the building well kept.

Very nice leaning towards this one

I liked this place but it's independent living. I liked the location, it's really close to me and it felt really good too but as my father's Alzheimer's progressed we would have to move him and we didn't want to do that.
