We toured this community when we were looking into senior living options for a loved one. This looked like a very nice community, it was clean, and the staff all seemed friendly. Our only concern was that they seemed a bit expensive for what they provided, compared to some other options we saw in the area.

Home for my Mom

My mother lived here for 1 1/2 yrs. She was well taken care of & loved. Meals were great! She never just stayed in her room because they encouraged socializing as much as could be expected. Activities to encourage their long term memory & creativity, snacks, & plenty of time for a nap! The staff became an extended family to me! There is not a perfect place, but they strive to be the best caregivers for the residences' well-being & happiness. Stop by and spend an hour there at different times of the day. The redirection for my Mom was extremely important due to dementia. That isn't possible at an assistant living facility, it wasn't needed during her 3 years there. Our loved ones needs change over the years. Don't wait too long to make the change for them, they can't do it alone!!

Autumn Leaves is a home.

My father came from Atlanta to Autumn Leaves of Tulsa because of the staff. He was at Emory in Atlanta and my family had nothing but issues. Emory kept him drugged up and in him room for most of the day. Autumn Leaves is more like a home, and not an area to keep Alzheimer patients. When my sister got him to Tulsa, he was so medicated that he could not walk on his own. In a short time, Autumn Leaves (with a doctor that comes to the facility) had him off his medication completely. He was dancing to the music in the main area in no time. I lost my dad 8 months after he arrived and I wish he would have had more time to enjoy the last days of his life. He loved Autumn Leaves, and the staff was very good to him, as I know it took a lot of patience with his PTSD, and Alzheimers.

We stopped in at the heritage Village and found the community was nice but it did not fit what my mom was looking for. My mom has a scooter that she needs to get around and we felt there were no fire exits for emergency for her to get out in time also we felt there was not enough staff to help she such a occurence was to happen. We also found that the community was a little bite more what we were looking for spend.

Benton House is very nice. It was a very new facility which I think for a lot of people would be appealing but to me, I feet like they were a inexperienced because they were so new. I just related more to another place, one that has been in business for a while. This is going to sound terrible and I don't mean it to but I didn't want my mom to be like a guinea pig for a brand new place that's working kinks out. It was a beautiful place. When you look at if from the outside it was an absolute pristine place but that wasn't as important to me.

Nice quiet community

Community is very clean. They distribute medications. They helped setup our loved ones room by hang up decorations and showing them how to use certain things. We are in the newer section and there has been some growing pains and would like for them to be fixed a little faster. Some of those issues are things like it takes about 20 minutes for the hot water to kick in. The newer section is extremely far away from the dining area I would have to say it is equivalent to walking a mile for older people. The community is very pretty and there is a nice pond that provides a nice view. The community is very quiet. More then not it is a very nice place. The food is also good. Overall it is a good community that we have been pleased with.

Good, safe, sound environment

My 90 y/o sister moved in the week before Thanksgiving, so she hasn't been there long. She seems to be doing much better than she was before moving in to Heritage. They make sure she takes her meds properly, and the meals are good and balanced--something she wasn't getting before. She likes the staff & they are so kind to her. The interaction with others has been good for her. It may not be as fancy or roomy as soon of the other places, but many of the frills seen in other assisted living homes would not be of use to her. So far so good. The family is relived to have her in a safe, sound environment.

When I first walked into Autumn Leaves, I did not like what I saw. I had been taking care of my mother for years and I had no experience with memory care units. When I first walked in, there were residents right as you walk through the door. There was someone tapping me, and some going up to my husband. I just feel that they should make it where there is a wall or something so you don't just walk into where all of the residents are.

They have been very good about a lot of things.

My mother has complaints, but I haven't seen the things she is complaining about. They have been very good about a lot of things. They were really helpful getting us moved in. I have seen little things, there was a light out in a hallway. I haven't seen any major problems. They are probably a little better than average.

The Willows at Mallard Cove

My father lives in the memory unit. The facility is very clean, has lots of natural light, and is attractive. His room has a sliding glass door (which of course can only be opened a few inches) that looks out to the pond and willow tree. There is a walking path around the pond and outdoor courtyards (all secure.) There are many activities throughout the day, including guest musicians and fun exercise classes. The only negative is the food but the assistant director is currently working with the kitchen to improve the situation. I would recommend that the family try to be as involved as possible, especially in the first two months of transition to a memory care unit. Try to be your loved one's advocate, learn the routines, and let the staff know their likes, dislikes, and any concerns.

Nice place, a bit shorstaffed

Overall this is a pretty nice place. It's clean, looks nice, and the staff are all very friendly. They always seem to be a bit understaffed, however, and I feel like my loved one needs a bit more attention than she gets normally. They're always very responsive and happy to help if I point out anything I'd like done, though. I also like the pricing structure, most of the services they provide are simply included in the base price, so you don't have to worry about the price increasing drastically from a la carte services.

Review for Kingsland Walk Senior Living

We've had a few challenges but worked through the issues. Mainly with medical care of my mom due to the pain issues with my mom's leg. The activities are great & mom enjoys participating; food is good and the staff is attentive. Overall we're still happy with our choice. I feel I have to more attentive with what's going on there with mom. I would love for the community to send out a monthly overview of how things are going with Memory Care Residents . . . would be helpful I think for all!
