Disappointing

This was a bad experience for my loved one. The turnover was high and lack of continuity. They told me that he needed to see a psychiatrist in a psych ward to evaluate, so they sent my loved one to the hospital. They ended up kicking my loved one out of the community after this.

My Experience At Valley Crest Was Not That Great

Do not put your loved one here. The staff was fine except for the director. She didn't call me to tell me that my loved one had a fall. She called to ask me for some medical history, but did not say that the ambulance was there. I called Valley Crest to check on him, and they said they couldn't tell me anything, that the director was on the phone. I called every half hour and got the same response, that the director was still on the phone. So finally I came down there. When I got there, it took them 10 minutes to answer the door, and they told me she had already gone home and that nobody there was in charge. Only then did they tell me that my loved one had been taken to the hospital via ambulance. After he got out of the hospital, I took him home and would not bring him back to Valley Crest. The hospital determined he fainted because he had low pressure and was dehydrated. So I strongly question what kind of care was he receiving at Valley Crest. With Covid going on, it's hard to say what Valley Crest is like usually. Maybe it's a good place otherwise, but the experience I had personally was terrible.

Review of Cadence at Poway Gardens

The listing is incorrect, stating bracelets are given to residents that roam or are known to escape, nothing as such for security. Past reviews are from when this was Sunshine Care, a loving caring community. Cadence only cares about taking your money, they don’t provide security or have employees monitor residents with care. My father was a resident, was left unattended, climbed a fence and passed away. Check Social Services website to get information.

Extremely rude memory care staff!

The employees in memory care are extremely rude and unhelpful. It’s always social hour, no one bothers to get up and help with anything! They just continue to sit around and chat with each other. From what I can see there is really no one overseeing the care that’s bring given to the residents. And forget asking the staff any questions about a loved one, they’ll just look at you and give some rude answer and continue chatting with each other. The facility itself is new and beautiful but being a healthcare professional for many years and going to multiple similar facilities a day, I can honestly say this would be one of the last places I would recommend to anyone.

incompetent

My mother, [Removed], 81 years old, had been staying there a little over a year. She fell a lot and we could not let her live alone. She wanted to stay close to home. She said that her requests were often ignored. There were no activities for her because she was one of two who could communicate and didn't have dementia. She was a diabetic and had high blood pressure but otherwise in good health. Before noon on Nov 2, 2017, she was not feeling well and the Carrington House called an ambulance for her. They failed to do two things. 1) They did not call me. 2) They did not give the medical mandate (DNR) to the paramedics. Around 2:30 pm, a good friend called me to say my mom was taken to the hospital. I called the hospital and was informed that her heart stopped beating and that they had to perform CPR. They were able to get her heart to beat again [Removed]. They called me back as my mom's heart stopped again asking if I had the authority to determine whether to resuscitate or not. They called me a third time to say my mom's heart had started up again on its own. My mom passed away. I called Carrington to ask why I had not been notified and said I wanted answers the when I stopped by the following morning. I live over three hours away. Carrington said, "It was our fault we did not call you. We dropped the ball." My complaint is with a timely phone call and if the medical mandate had been given to the medics, I may have been able to be by my mom's bedside.

STAY AWAY!!

There is a huge turnover in staff, and those that are hired are not qualified to care for our loved ones. My mother has been there for a few years now and if we had to do over again, this wouldn't be the place she would live. Unfortunately, taking her out of here now would cause more damage than good. When we question the care she is receiving, Renee tells us, "Well, you can move her." VC would like us to move her , because she is on the life long pricing which means they could fill her bed with a more lucrative resident. At this point, VC is doing what they can to shorten her life, to fill that bed when she passes (they've stopped meds and oxygen, as per Dr's orders). Stay away from this place. NOT A GOOD CHOICE FOR YOUR LOVED ONES.

They were understaffed and very slow to respond to the call lights.

They were reorganizing, it should be better now. They also have a new top person. Things should have improved. We are no longer here, the needs we had were not really an appropriate match for the community. They were understaffed and very slow to respond to the call lights. The people they hired were nice and the activities were wonderful.

I wouldn't reccommend them at all.

It was a whirlwind getting in and things weren't explained very well. When it came to pricing and billing, it was confusing. She passed and nobody knew when it happened. We got a call the following morning and they said she died last night, I just came on and found her. I wouldn't reccommend them at all.

Awful

This place is all smoke and mirrors. The only redeeming factor is that it is close to other senior communities that are better when you're ready to move out. The management is horrible, the maintenance is horrible, you'll fight the cockroaches for space and they overwork their poor staff to the point of insanity. The residents are miserable, they don't get the medications on time, if at all and they charge for stuff that was never providing. Run from this hole!

Understaffed--Would never recommend for various reasons

This place is seriously understaffed and at all times of the day/night as far as our experience has been. The employees are friendly enough but that is a moot point when it comes to providing a safe environment for patients. The food appears to come out of cans or freezer for the most part. Plain meat and bread sandwiches with fritos are often a lunch or dinner meal. If your loved one is sleeping, they don't get fed. Take a good look at the weight of the inpatients there...they were not admitted at that weight, you can be sure. In our case, our loved one has been seriously injured there but no one ever has witnessed it! I would never recommend this facility unless you want a quick end for your loved one. I can't understand why A Place For Mom would ever recommend this facility.

The staff are very nice and helpfull. They seem over worked they are always understaffed. The management department could care less seems like they're in it for the money not because they care. I've heard them yell and be very rude to the staff they're not professional they have a lack of communication. What they promise you on the tour are lies. Those are just a few of the reason we decided not to put our mom in there

DO NOT CHOOSE MERIDIAN

Doesn't even deserve half a star!!! My great grandmother was a resident for almost 6 months at meridian. My family and I were assured she would be taken well taken care of. As many know it takes a leap of faith and requires blind trust in order to put your loved ones care into someone else that you have never really knew before. We were assured we could trust them so we decided to take a chance with them... Don't make the same mistake!!! We were constantly told that she got her required metrication that she needed daily and on occasion we would be told they needed more. However, recently we had noticed she had not been getting the needed care so my family and I reached the point to where we moved her. We moved her in to the new nursing home which is superb. But on return to pick up her medication we find out she had not been getting her doctor required medication that without was life threatening. The staff at meridian is great with the residents but the administration does not care about the residents. I advise to not use this facility for anybody.

If I could pick zero stars I would. The staff could care less about your family. I am pretty positive they pick the "cheap of the cheap" employees...if not illegals...not sure... but would suspect. I guarantee with the exception of a few, these employees that will take care of your family are not fit to take care of dogs...and I love dogs... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
