They are a 24 hour care facility, so I understand staffing and not putting the "A" team in all the time. The majority of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. But mom has complained about some staff...

Property is going through a renovation, staff seemed very friendly, but did not offer memory care and at this point would need to be part of the equation.

The food was great, [name removed] and [name removed] were very understanding and addressed all my concerns. The entrance fee of $3000 is quite high. My only concern is smell, it smelled like a nursing home and one room we saw had it very strong.

I had an interview at Brookdale Bloomington to decide if it would be a good fit for our loved one. I did not have a comfortable feeling when they stated they were having staffing problems. I knew that my loved one would need good constant care and chose another community.

It is still a bit of an adjustment process for my mother with her move to this community. I do have minor concerns, but overall I do feel she is receiving good care. The staff is super, they are trying their best to care for her, and needs. The activities director is amazing, she is the happiest, and so upbeat. I would say the meals could use some improvements. There is some room for improvements, but I would recommend this community overall.

The majority of the staff I met are friendly, compassionate & efficient. However, I feel the facility is understaffed, which is detrimental to residents like my mother, who require an increased level of care. As my mother's condition deteriorates, I fear I may need to transfer her to another facility which will be able to attend to these needs. I would prefer for her to remain where she is if at all possible.

My dad is here and my main complaint is that there just arent enough aides to take care of all the memory care clients. the aides that work there are all very nice and helpful, but there needs to be more of them, especially during the weekend times. The rooms are also not cleaned as thoroughly as they should be, as often as they should be.

My parent is here and I have to say I am not impressed with this new director or head of nursing. They sit in their offices all day and don’t see that the families and residents are not happy. The building is filthy, the food is repetitive, horrible, kitchen staff is rude, and there are no real activities. There are some good cnas and nurses except one but they can only do so much. For the price we are paying it’s not worth it and I will most likely be moving my parent out very soon.

We were not Impressed with our tour of this community. We toured in for my in laws, and their needs. The residents didn't not appear to happy, or cheerful. We did not feel this would be a good environment for my in laws. We did find another community that met our needs better.

We toured Trail Creek Place Memory Care during our search for a Memory Care facility for our loved one. This facility was terrible and I would never have my loved one live here. The facility was dirty and had a strong odor of urine/feces.

We paid over [amount removed] a month for "special" services (routine room check as she was bedridden) that typically weren't performed. 8/10 times her room was dirty, she was lying in her own waste, and she didn't feel well. After we moved her we discovered she was having a lot of trouble breathing and had a raging UTI as well as a horrendous yeast infection. After a caretaker told me to get out, we couldn't get her out of there fast enough. So very disappointing.

Their local administrator and corporate said they would refund unused money that was paid one month in advance, for a senior apartment, but they have yet to do so. I have made several calls, and the administrator has promised three times to get back with me after she follows up with corporate, but she has never done so. Now, every time I call to speak with her, she is always in a meeting, or not available to talk to me, and the staff does not follow through with putting me in to her voicemail. It has been almost 2 months now.

The person who was working nights did not have any understanding of Alzheimer's at all. The administrative staff were not very cooperative. Some of the meals provided were inadequate, they tried to make them way too fancy and the residents want simple. My loved one was here 6 days and I ended up paying [amount removed]. I am not familiar with the new administration, but when I signed my loved one up, I did not get a copy of all of the materials and it was just left in the room. I would not recommend them to other families.

When my dad first moved in I was happy with the services and care. We were promised security, good food and that they would help him become sociable with others. We were very welcomed and helped in the doors with the move. My dad was there for 5 months. After about month 3, I came to find out that my dad whom has been lost before and diagnosed with dementia and suffered from 13.1 A1C when admitted was allowed to walk next door to the gas station on the busy Sycamore road ALONE to get drinks and snacks. Every time I gave my dad money he was immediately broke. He would spend $12-$15 at a time and actually sit and visit with the employees at the gas station. He was drinking 44oz diet cokes which in turn gave him several UTI's. I also had the arrangement (I have sole guardianship and POA) that I was to know if any siblings or friends signed him out and took him out of the facility. Again, this lasted the first few months and after that, this lacked as well. There were no real activities to speak of. My dad never left his apartment except to eat and even then he talked them into letting him eat in his apartment, making messes and again excluding himself from any socialization. When I asked if they could shampoo the carpet around his chair that he spilled stuff all the time, I was told they only do that once a year. He became more depressed and complained daily he wanted to leave. I found an alternative arrangement of a wonderful lady to care for him full-time in her home and has several outings and activities and as soon as I notified The Kokomo Place.. I was immediately shunned. I had no help whatsoever in holding a door open that was right next to his apartment and had to carry all items through to the clear front of the building, disturbing the other residents as they stared on. As he gets older and needs additional help again, I did inform them that I would plan on moving him back.. however, after these experiences... this will NOT be where he returns. Beware as even though you move out they will not let you back in the apartment and take it over while continuing to charge you until your notice is up. In my opinion, you should still have ownership as long as you are paying the outrageous all cash fees. We paid almost $25k including a move in fee (not sure what that was for because I couldn't even get help hooking up a home phone) in 5 months. Total rip off. , Very unsatisfied and beware as they show you good food and then on several occasions serve bologna and hot dogs. I do feel that the nurses were great and friendly, but the administration needs the house cleaned!

Food is terrible and portions are skimpy. Residents rarely if ever receive their choice from the pre-selected menu because there isn't enough, there weren't sufficient ingredients to make an item, or the cook was "off" and someone else is filling in. Consequently, meat is predominately "processed" and fruit/vegetables are either from a box or can. There is a shortage of staff so basic housekeeping of residents is random or non-existent.
