After my 96 year old mother fell and broke her hip at home. I talked it over with her to look into assisted living Prior to this she was very independent and did her own cleaning, shopping, cooking, laundry. etc. She was reluctant at first but while doing therapy in a rehabilitation faculty she came to realize she may need some help with bathing or other small tasks, I checked around and looked into all assisted living places in the area and found Grand Emerald to be what i was looking for. It is not huge like most of the newer ones. But it is really cute , pretty decor with the seasons. it was always clean and more of a home like feeling that i liked. Everyone was friendly and so nice. The price was very reasonable which was also a plus. Unfortunately while my mom was in rehab she contracted C;diff infection twice. and once we moved her into Grand Emerald she came down with it again. THe nurse was wonderful in seeing her had the care she needed, THe aides were wonderful in helping her to the restroom and other assistant she needed. The nurse kept me informed on sending her to the hospital for her care since she was so weak and not eating. Once again she came home and within a week she had [removed] again. I understand that once you get C,diff in your system it is hard to get rid of and can come back many times over and it is hard on the elderlies. This last time she was in the hospital it took a toll on her mind and body and she passed away Dec 11th. I am so grateful for Grand Emerald for their care and concerns during the short time she was there. Everyone was so friendly and nice from the administrator down to the aides. They really care about their tenants. They spent time with them. got to know them. Both times mom was in the hospital the Administrator came to see mom which surprised both mom and I. She even received a get well card the first time she was in the hospital. I can't give a honest review on the activities since mom wasn't there long enough to participate in any but what i have seen on their monthly schedule looked like fun things to do. I met a few tenants on the elevator going to see mom and they all said they loved it here. It was so homelike, friendly and happy to be here. THe food was good and the chef even came and talked to mom with what she can or cannot eat being a diabetic, He would make something special for her if she had something she would like to have, Her room was always clean, her laundry was done once a week, I cannot say enough good things about Grand Emerald. and the faculty.

IT has been renamed to brookdale same place. the short time my mother was in there it was a wonderful place. The help did everything it could to keep you happy . wonderful rooms neat and clean . Less then half the money of other places in town with so much more.

After being told that my mother needed too much help by having to have a nurse give her meds twice a day at another local Assisted Living Facility, my siblings & I took a full day to visit several of the other facilities in our town. I would not recommend any other to anyone. I think my mother is in a safe, caring place. I have talked to other family members of several others that are staying there and several seem to have been there for 2 1/2 - 3 years and they are happy with it so far. Only one person told me that they thought the carpets needed to be cleaned in the apartments at least once every 3-4 months. We have only been there one week and my mother's apartment is very lovely and clean. Everyone that I have met seems to have a smile on their face and they speak to all of the people that are living there (using their name). They seem to be very compasionate and genuine. Check back with me in 6 months and hopefully I will have more great things to say.

They are a 24 hour care facility, so I understand staffing and not putting the "A" team in all the time. The majority of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. But mom has complained about some staff being less than helpful. They have a doctor/NP on staff and an in-house pharmacy. This is very helpful with mom getting all of her care from one place. They are not currently accepting (or maybe not approved to) accept Medicaid, so the $[removed] a month out of pocket expense is getting hard to continue.

I would recommend to others because they're better than the other ones. They don't get back to me as much as I used to. And I never know what's going on.

We were very happy overall. My mother ended having to do hospice which Brookdale was willing to accommodate. They took excellent care of her and we were relieved she could be in a familiar place surrounded by her life's memories and beloved stuff.

The staff that I interacted with was always very friendly and helpful. However, my loved one did report having to wait for what she described as long periods sometimes for assistance. She said someone would answer her call for assistance but say they were busy and would be back soon, but did not return for some time. I am wondering if it might be a short staffing issue. Overall I had good response from management when I expressed concerns. And when I spoke to other residents they conveyed that they were happy there.

Brookdale Bloomington is a nice, clean facility which provides excellent care for its residents. The staff is friendly and attentive. Would recommend considering this facility for your assisted living needs.

My husband has been at Brookdale for 2 months. I like that it is a small facility allowing him to receive the individualized care that he needs, and that the staff all know him. They are all caring and very patient with him.

The employees are great and ever so kind. The facilities are nice as well. They offer lots to keep the residents busy including shopping days! I would say that they seems a little under staffed, especially on the weekends. The other thing is that their extra services are a la cart and I am not convinced it is cost effective for the residents. Overall, it’s a great place.

I like almost everything at Elkhart Place. The staff is so friendly and positive and kind and helpful:) It's clean, I like the way they wash only one person's laundry at one time. No mix up on clothes. Something I wasn't told about it is that almost everyone there ..well it's like a nursing home...more than assisted living. I ALMOST cancelled going there when I saw how many people were In wheel chairs with their heads down...and others...well just not active or vibrant. I like the activities they do but music...church music, isn't there..no pastors come in,...only one churchy thing and it doesn't fit [name removed] needs...but that isn't all their fault. We were told someone would take him walking each day but I can count on 1 hand how many times they did that and he has been there over a year. They shouldn't have promised that in the failure to take him walking was a huge disappointment. The staff presence on weekends is very light. Again, I want to say that they have been very helpful to us ..I like that they always have a nurse there all the time. And I REALLY LIKE the staff. They are really positive, patient and energetic.

What our family likes the most about Elkhart Place is the staff. I truly love some of the nurses and CNA's. They care very much for my Dad's well being. He's not interested in activities. The staff is very good to my Dad.

It's a small setting, appropriate for my loved one. The staff has changed quite a bit from the original people who were there when we started, but the changes have been positive. The activities have increased and improved and are engaging. The current activities director is a gem. The facility is kept very clean and secure.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Bloomington and the experience has been good overall, I think. They have done all that they realistically can. My loved one is just not engaged with life much of the time, so it's hard to say what other people would experience under better circumstances.

My loved one is a resident at Grand Emerald Place and things have been good overall. However, some of the nurses are not as friendly as others. It depends on day shift and night shift, both are ruder and some are just not friendly. Also, I personally would never eat the food there. It all looks the same and it's never a balance meal no veggies and they use a half of a banana as dessert or like 5 grapes. Weird. The activity director is great. It's too bad they don't have temp work or volunteers on weekends to help keep them active. I think the money that is paid should come with more interaction with higher up. If we find a water leak it shouldn't take 2 weeks to fix it. My mom is a different circumstance with her memory. I just think better communication would help between us and management.

Good facility, very comfortable and welcoming. Staff is compassionate and helpful. Mom passed away one month after moving in, but Dad is still there. I would recommend Trail Creek Place!

My loved one was previously a resident. Everything was very pleasant and I would recommend this facility to others.

We chose Elkhart Place for our loved one because we had prior experiences with the facility. As far as we can tell, the services provided have been great.

We picked this community because it was cheaper in price. The experience has been very pleasant. I would recommend to others.

We are glad to have our loved one at Elkhart Place. The average age for the residents living there is probably around 80-85 at at times the energy level is low. However the staff members are doing a good job of caring for our loved one there.
